Jasmine had already been increasing in popularity before the release of the Disney film "Aladdin" in 1992, wherein Jasmine was one of the main characters. Indeed, the name has been in the top 1000 names for both sexes since 1989. It has fallen out of favor somewhat over the past decade, however, and reached its lowest level of popularity since 1987 in the year 2011.
